Goal 6: Engage faculty, students and staff in ongoing dialogue, inquiry and discovery of sustainability and environmental justice; and forge a more environmentally conscious community.

2. Create an operational framework for working with MSU facilities management to meet sustainability goals.

  • Strategy 1.3: In reference to the curriculum revision (Goal 3), consider how to include questions of climate justice and sustainability in the curriculum.

  • Strategy 2.1: Work with MSU Facilities management to identify and pursue opportunities to reduce resource use and waste in the college’s day-to-day operations and at college events.

  • Strategy 1.1: Provide training and professional development opportunities about sustainability for all faculty and staff at least once a year.
  • Strategy 1.2: Adopt a best practice guide for managing and operating college facilities and events.
  • Strategy 1.4: In reference to speaker committee (Goal 4: Objective 1), consider hosting speakers on environmental issues.
  • Strategy 1.5: Consider working with the other residential colleges to host teach-ins on environmental justice issues.
  • Strategy 2.2: Adopt a call for MSU to divest from fossil fuel companies.
