JMC Career Programs

In partnership with the wider MSU Career Services Network, JMC hosts a range of in-person and virtual career programs aimed at helping students explore the various career paths available to them upon graduation, prepare for opportunities (both during and after college), and connect with alumni mentors and professionals in fields of interest.

Signature JMC Programs

JMC Career Peer
JMC's Career Peer, Taylor Toth, is available to provide one-on-one support for resumes, cover letters, personal statements, interview strategies and the internship search process. Students can schedule a Career Peer appointment via Handshake or visit during office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays between 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. in 329 South Case Hall.

Career Chats
JMC regularly hosts alumni, employers and special guests to connect students with career insights and opportunities. Career Chats are an opportunity to meet 1:1 and in group settings for engaging conversations. They’re hosted in the college’s Career Services Office, which is located in the busy classroom corridor of our residential college.

JMC Skills Seminar Series
This three-part workshop series enhances our students' career readiness, created in response to feedback from alumni and employers about the skills most valued in today's job market.  Seminars cover how to develop cover letters and resumes, cultivate meaningful professional relations and practice how to network with Madison alumni.

JMC’s Career Exposure Program
Organized as both short (1-3 day) and long (5-7 day) endeavors, JMC’s Career Exposure Program is designed for Madison students interested in exploring the varied professions accessible to public affairs graduates; networking with alumni mentors and employers; touring workplaces; and discovering new cities. The college welcomes outreach from potential hosts for our program, which runs once or twice a year. Past Career Exposure Programs have been hosted in:

  • Ann Arbor
  • Chicago
  • Detroit
  • Grand Rapids
  • New York City
  • Los Angeles
  • San Francisco
  • Washington, DC

We love partnering with alumni mentors, employers, and special guests to offer engaging career programming to the Madison community! Please feel free to email if you’d like to engage with us: JM.Career@msu.edu.
