Professor Lindahl has taught at Oklahoma State University, the University of Hawaii, and York University in Toronto. He has published a monograph on Tocqueville's political theory, articles on political theory in journals in this country and in Sweden, and has received several grants and awards. Professor Lindahl's research and teaching interests include 19th and 20th century political theory, the philosophy of social science, American political thought, Caribbean politics and culture and Scandinavian social democracy.

Professor Folke Lindahl is the recipient of MSU's Outstanding Service to Study Abroad award. He received the award at the International Awards Center at the Huntington Club in Spartan Stadium in April.

He retired effective 8/15/2019.
