Funding Education Abroad

There are a variety of scholarships available to help support your education abroad experience. Explore funding opportunities and scholarships below.

JMC Education Abroad scholarships provide financial support to students participating in education abroad programs in summer, fall and spring semesters. While you need to specify the program for which you're applying, you need not have been formally accepted into the program at the time of the scholarship application.

There are two annual deadlines for these scholarships:

  • Feb. 28 for students expecting to participate in education abroad in the following Summer and Fall semesters
  • Nov. 15 for students expecting to participate in education abroad in the following Spring semester

Students do not need to be enrolled in Education Abroad credit at the time of application, but must be enrolled before receiving the award. Recipients are also expected to complete a Letter of Acknowledgement to the scholarship donor.

Office for Education Abroad has a large collection of scholarships, many with different eligibility requirements. These scholarships are available to all MSU students and require a minimum overall 2.0 GPA and a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file with the MSU Office of Financial Aid, unless otherwise noted.

Between 25% and 30% of students who apply for an Office for Education Abroad Scholarship receive an award.
