JMC Colloquium

All incoming James Madison College students will join college leadership, faculty and staff for their official welcome to Michigan State University and JMC! New first-year and transfer students will hear from the dean, meet academic advisors, professors and staff, and learn about field experience and internships, career resources and MC 100.

The event will then bring public affairs to life through a faculty-led discussion of a hypothetical AI data center proposed for MSU’s campus. Faculty representing JMC’s academic fields will explore the questions and competing considerations the proposal might raise, from its effects on local communities and public resources to its broader political, economic and international implications. A Madison alum will help connect the discussion to the debate over data centers in the Lansing area and highlight the ways Madisonians can help shape issues affecting their communities.

Colloquium will be held in the Wilson Hall Auditorium (Room C102).

All incoming first-year and transfer JMC students are required to attend.
