ADVANCING INCLUSION AND EQUITY FOR ALL.

Undoubtedly, the academic rigor you receive at JMC will be unmatched; however, we equally value and strive to create a space and climate in which you feel free to learn, engage, question and thrive. The quality of your JMC experience matters to us, and we are committed to ensuring that you feel supported, valued and heard.”

Overview

Lansing-area students interested in future careers in international relations and public affairs are invited to apply to participate in the Pre-Residential Immersive Madison Experience (PRIME) Leadership Program.

Led by the Office of Justice, Equity and Inclusion, PRIME allows Lansing high school students to learn more about the academic and professional opportunities that exist at James Madison College. The program encourages participants to consider future careers in public policy, law, political science, government and international affairs.

This year-long program culminates with the Leadership Academy, an alternative spring break program hosted at JMC. Students attend a college preparatory course; learn more about JMC’s four majors; tour MSU campus; connect with faculty, staff, and students; and participate in a variety of educational activities.

Other features of the program include:

  • Visits to MSU’s campus throughout the school year
  • Mentoring from JMC students
  • Free classes with JMC professors
  • Scholarship opportunities to attend MSU and JMC

Application Instructions

Students who attend high school within Ingham County are eligible to apply. Complete your application via Qualtrics.

Once applications are processed, select students will be invited to interview with JMC faculty and staff for placement in the program. Those selected will be notified in early March.
