Current MSU Student Admissions

If you're currently enrolled at MSU in another college and want to declare a James Madison College major, you don't need to submit a formal application. JMC admits current MSU students into its majors as space permits, utilizing a waitlist process.

How it works

There are no credit restrictions for current MSU student admissions into JMC, but students should talk with a JMC academic advisor about how completing JMC major requirements will affect their time to degree. During the semesterly waitlist review, space in the program is assessed and a grade review confirms students are in good academic standing before the major change is processed.

Schedule a meeting

To get started, please schedule an appointment with JMC advisor Emelia Hammond through the Student Information System or by emailing ehammond@msu.edu. Emelia will review your record, answer your questions about JMC majors and walk you through next steps.

Transferring from another college or university?
