Michigan State University is hosting its largest open house for prospective students and their families July 22, 25-29. Green and White Days promises to offer flexibility in exploring the campus. With programs beginning at 9 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m., prospective students will have opportunities to take organized tours of campus, visit residence halls, discover student organizations and campus services, and attend informational sessions about special topics such as the Spartan Marching Band, Honors College, financial planning, transferring credits and education abroad.
Emelia Hammond, an adviser in James Madison College, recommends Green and White Days because it offers so many facets of the university in one day. “It’s the one time a year that all of MSU is open for students and families to fully explore it in its entirety,” said Hammond.
Each college will host its own academic information sessions from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. James Madison College (JMC), located in Case Hall, will have both academic specialists and advisers on hand to discuss the curriculum and the unique opportunities that exist in one of the nation’s premier public affairs colleges. Additionally, James Madison student Jesús Hernandez, will be available to share his experience in the college —the benefits of a residential college — and answer questions. Hernandez is a third-year majoring in Social Relations and Policy (SRP).
“Green and White Days is a great opportunity to come see everything MSU offers and whether you can see yourself as a student here,” Hernandez said.
