Michigan State University is currently in the middle of a search for the position of Dean of James Madison College (JMC), an undergraduate liberal arts college of public affairs. Madison College, founded in 1967, is one of three residential colleges in the university committed to excellence in undergraduate teaching and close interactions between students and faculty. The college has its own tenure-system faculty of accomplished scholars, and its own curriculum, while also benefiting from the resources, opportunities, substantive breadth, and curricula of a major research university. The college’s faculty are trained in American studies, anthropology, economics, English literature, history, humanities, philosophy, political science, science and technology studies, and sociology. The college offers four interdisciplinary majors, Comparative Cultures and Politics, International Relations, Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy, and Social Relations and Policy, and participates in multiple cross-unit degree programs offered within the university.
