Creation and Crises of the American Republic

Through the reading, analyzing, and discussion of primary texts from figures such as Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and Frederick Douglas, participants in the program will engage with the philosophical and political ideas that shaped the founding of the American republic and the crises that arose from the new republican experiment. Sessions will be led by Michigan State faculty, including Jordan Cash and Brianne Wolf, as well as by Jeff Polet, Director of the Ford Leadership Forum at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation.

Participants will receive a $300 stipend upon completion of the program.
