JMC Skills Seminar #3: Networking Advice + Practice with Madison Alumni

Wed, October 30, 2024 6:00 PM - Wed, October 30, 2024 7:00 PM at Online via Zoom

More than ever, building a professional network can feel like a high-stakes endeavor. It requires consistent effort, balancing authenticity with strategic goals, stepping out of your comfort zone to navigate social dynamics, and overcoming the fear of rejection. JMC’s Career Services and Field Experience Offices are here to help! Join us for a virtual (and low-stakes!) panel discussion featuring Madison graduates who are eager to help you practice your relationship-building skills and offer their own insights on mastering the art of networking. Alumni participants include:

  • Ewurama Appiagyei-Dankah, SRP '18 (JD Candidate at UM Law and West Michigan Legal Fellow, ACLU)
  • John Bremer, IR '09 (Director, State Legislation & Policy, Federation of State Medical Boards)
  • Lee Petro, IR '92 (Member, Dickinson Wright PLLC)
  • Jeff Prang, IR '84 (Assessor, County of Los Angeles)
  • Karl Schneider, IR '17 (Analyst, Congressional Research Service)

This program is the third and final installment of the college’s recently launched Skills Seminars. Students who complete all three seminars will receive coaching on how to list the professional development skills gained through the series on their professional documents and online profiles. Karissa Chabot-Purchase and Lauren Michalak are also working on a process to award LinkedIn badges for completing the series that they hope to roll out later this academic year.
