"Teaching and Learning About Data Through Stories: An Interdisciplinary Perspective" presented by Lee Melvin Peralta and Dr. Louise Jezierski

Mon, October 2, 2023 4:30 PM at JMC Library (332 South Case)

In this presentation, Lee Melvin Peralta (College of Ed, PhD ‘24) and Dr. Louise Jezierski (JMC, Associate Professor) build on the literature on undergraduate data education by discussing emerging findings from a new interdisciplinary course at MSU on data and stories. Findings suggest an opportunity to use storytelling practices to support students in developing critical and creative orientations toward data. Storytelling affords the opportunity to develop technical acumen with data while also addressing broader onto- epistemological questions about the nature of knowledge production, use, and representation.
