Interdisciplinary Energy Research: Needs, Challenges, and Pathways Forward

Featuring JMC Professor Sharlissa Moore

With climate change mitigation being an urgent need across the United States, interest has increased in interdisciplinary collaboration across engineering, social science, and the humanities. This talk will outline the reasons this collaboration is needed and then describe several examples of interdisciplinary energy research on community solar projects and residential battery storage. Both projects were also transdisciplinary as they involved community members, private company, and government. The talk will the overview the institutional and disciplinary challenges that need to be addressed to further interdisciplinary research collaboration on energy.
