Live Conversation with Mohammad Bakri

Asian Studies Center, the College of Arts & Letters, the Global Studies in the Arts & Humanities Program, and the Muslim Studies Program at Michigan State University are excited to host on campus a public and live event organized around the work and life of Mohammad Bakri. 

Bakri is one of the most prominent Palestinian actors and directors. He has had numerous roles in Palestinian, Israeli, and international films, performed on staged, and directed several documentary films, among them 1948 (1998) Jenin Jenin (2002) and Since you Left (2007). Bakri rose to prominence in theatre and world cinema in the 1980s. He was close friends with the Palestinian writer Emil Habibi, and played the role of Saeed in the 1986 theatrical adaptation of Habibi's novel Saeed the Pessoptimist. Bakri is best known in the US for his role in the tv series Homeland.
