Admitted Student Day offers opportunities to explore MSU campus

April 21, 2023 - Beth Brauer

Michigan State University’s Admitted Student Day saw unseasonably warm temperatures on Saturday, April 15. Fortunately, students and their families leaned into the balmy conditions as campus welcomed nearly 3700 admitted students to campus.

In addition to the programming organized by the Office of Admissions, James Madison College offered a variety of informational sessions and activities for the 117 registered students and their families. From 9 a.m. to noon, Case Hall’s third floor provided an Open House experience where admitted students could tour the residential college; speak to academic advisers and career counselors; meet current JMC students and faculty; discover some of the experiential opportunities that exist like the JMC Human Rights Lab and so much more.

“I really liked talking to current students to hear what they are doing and to get ideas about the possibilities for me,” said Josie Shapiro, an Okemos High School senior, who is interested in JMC’s political theory and constitutional democracy major.

For Taylor Toth (PTCD & SRP ’25), Admitted Student Day was fun from the perspective of a current student offering tours to students and families and fielding questions about academics, student life, internships and more.

“I got to tell incoming students about things I wish I had known when starting at JMC. It was cool to see how many students are thinking of coming to Madison next year and how excited they are about all of the opportunities JMC offers,” said Toth.
