Dissecting South Asia: Development and Culture

Please join four UK scholars as they present and discuss their different dimensions of critical development, culture, and gender of South Asia. Presentations and discussions will occur over a two-day period on October 15 (2:00 - 4:00 pm) and October 16 (3:00 - 5:00 pm) in the JMC Library.
Presenters will include:
- Ishita Mehrotra - "Traditional Modernity: Class, Caste and Gender in Occupational Patterns"
- Shreya Sinha - "Agrarian capital in 21st Century India: Strategies within and outside agriculture"
- Taneesha Devi Mohan - "At the precipice of more tragedy: the lives and livelihoods of Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh"
- Priyanka Basu - "The Cultural Politics of ‘Folk’: Perspectives from India and Bangladesh"
