International Development in South Asia: Practice and Policy
This program is designed to build students' understanding of critical issues of development on the ground. It focuses on agriculture-oriented developing societies, specifically Sri Lanka. Students will have the opportunity to study for a month in Sri Lanka and will be introduced to various real-world problems through a combination classroom lectures and field visits. Students with interests in international development, agriculture and natural resources, rural development and community sustainability, gender, political, and social change, and globalization are strongly encouraged to participate. The program can be used for course credit towards some majors or in fulfillment of the field experience requirement for Madison College or the minor in International Agriculture and Natural Resources.
