JMC Career Programming

COVID-19 Programming Update: JMC Career Services, along with the wider MSU Career Services Network, will continue to offer programming in a virtual format until campus returns to normal operations.

In partnership with the wider MSU Career Services Network, JMC hosts a range of career-related programs aimed at helping students:

  • Explore the various career paths available to them upon graduation.
  • Prepare for opportunities both during and after college.
  • Connect with professionals in fields of interest.

Signature JMC Programs

Career Conversation Series

Open to all Madison students, JMC’s Career Conversation Series offers individuals the chance to hear directly from college alumni working in a range of professional fields. The college welcomes alumni during programs scheduled during the fall and spring terms.

Career Exposure Tours

Organized as both short (1-3 day) and long (5-7 day) endeavors, JMC’s Career Exposure Tours are designed for Madison students interested in exploring various professions, networking with employers and college alumni, touring company facilities, and discovering new cities. Recent trips have included treks to Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids, New York City, and Washington, D.C.

Fresh and Profesh Seminar

A brief, mandatory workshop for all first-year students meant to serve as an introduction to the range of services offered through the college's Career Services and Field Experiences Offices. Students are asked to participate in one seminar during their first semester at JMC to gather information and discuss expectations about internship and career preparation.

Coffee Chats

JMC's Career Services Office regularly partners with alumni, employers, and special guests to connect students with career insights and opportunities. Based on trends in student engagement, we offer "Coffee Chats" as a chance for small group meetings for brief (15-30 min.) conversations. We work with guests to choose a meeting location (virtual or in-person) and to schedule students for meetings. To initiate planning, email Career Consultant Karissa Chabot-Purchase (kcp@msu.edu).

Note: We'll need at least two weeks' notice to plan a successful event.
