Ransaw had two new publications in 2017. The first is a peer reviewed article in, Spectrum: A Journal on Black Men called, Cool papas: How six fathers in mid-Michigan use sports as a tool for engagement, accessibility and responsibility to increase the educational outcomes of their children.  The second is a book chapter entitled, Understanding the classroom matrix of race, class, gender and cultural competency in analyzing same race students and teacher arguments, in the volume Emerging trends and issues in education, by MSU Press.

Dr. Ransaw also presented at several conferences including Men Making Media: Writing in Hybrid Forms and Forums, at the 64th Literacy Research Association, Dad Play: Fathering for the Health of it, at MSU’s 3rdAnnual Fatherhood Forum, Hood Winked: Exploring, Exposing and Eliminating Miss-truth’s About African American Males and Education, at the Western Social Science Association in  San Francisco, More Than Just a Dreamer: The Relevancy of Dr. King and Civil Rights in the Age of Black Lives Matter and Social Justice, for MSU School of Social Work and was a Mock Trial Judge for the Cooley Law School Michigan Youth in Government and a facilitator for the 6th Annual Voices of the Unheard: Successful Black Women of Michigan State University, Peace Summit.
