JMC Career Programming

In partnership with the wider MSU Career Services Network, JMC hosts a range of career-related programs aimed at helping students:

  • Explore the various career paths available to them upon graduation.
  • Prepare for opportunities both during and after college.
  • Connect with professionals in fields of interest.

Signature JMC Programs

Alumni Career Day, Career Conversations

Open to all Madison students, JMC’s Alumni Career Day and Career Conversations offer individuals the chance to connect directly with college alumni who come from around the country to offer their expertise and insights from a range of career fields.

Career Exposure Tours

Organized as both short (1-3 day) and long (5-7 day) endeavors, JMC’s Career Exposure Tours are designed for Madison students interested in exploring various professions, networking with employers and college alumni, touring company facilities, and discovering new cities. Recent trips have included treks to Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Washington, D.C.

Fresh and Profesh Seminar

A mandatory, half-hour workshop for all first-year students meant to serve as an introduction to the services available through JMC's Career Services and Field Experience Offices. Students are asked to attend one seminar in the fall semester of their first year to gather information and discuss expectations about internship and career preparation.

Partner with JMC on a Career-Related Program

JMC’s Career Services Office is proud to partner with alumni, employers, and other special guests to provide a variety of career-related programming to students. Based on trends in student engagement, our program options are generally designed for smaller audiences who are interested in exclusive, one-on-one interaction with our guests.

Individuals interested in connecting with Madison students are able to collaborate with the college’s Career Services Office in the following ways:

Brownbag Lunches or Roundtable Discussions

Designed to take place over the lunch hour, Brownbag Lunches and Roundtable Discussions give guests the chance to have casual conversations with 8-10 students over a meal. Career Services can book classroom space or organize a roundtable in the South Pointe Dining facility (located in Case Hall).

Coffee Chats

Coffee Chats are a chance for special guests to meet one-on-one with students for brief (15-30 minute) career conversations. JMC works with guests to choose a meeting location and facilitate connections with students for individual meetings. This is a great option for visitors who are in town only for a brief period of time or who have unique scheduling needs to work around.

Practice Interviews or Resume Reviews

Madison student always appreciate the chance to practice their interviewing skills or gather resume feedback from professionals working in the fields they are exploring. Career Services is happy to book space, reach out to interested students, and host your session while you’re on campus.
