BIOGRAPHY

Florensio Hernandez (He/Him) is a former admissions counselor at Michigan State University Office of Admissions, with fifteen years of experience. Hernandez holds a Bachelor of Arts in political science with a specialization in Chicano/Latino Studies, and a Master of Arts in Higher Adult and Lifelong Education (HALE) from Michigan State University’s College of Education.

During his tenure with the MSU Office of Admissions, he worked as a liaison with the College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), the Fostering Academic Mentoring Experience (FAME) program, and the Grand Rapids, MI “To College, Through College” (T2C Studio) initiative.

Florensio has a passion for serving his community through civic engagement and is the vice president of the Lansing Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) chapter, and an appointed Commissioner by the Governor on the Hispanic Latino Commission of Michigan (HLCOM). Florensio is a first generation-college student, and a higher education professional, who actively aims to amplify students’ voices through an advocacy and education lens.
