Ingham County Health Department - Peer Educator
It's that time of year again for the Ingham County Health Department¹s Adolescent Health Education Program to hire Peer
Educators. We are looking to recruit college students who have outgoing
personalities, excellent communication skills and time management
skills, outstanding teamwork, and the ability to work under pressure. They must be interested in promoting adolescent health by presenting valuable information to adolescents in the community while acting as
positive role models.
Peer Educators will receive paid training on various health related
topics affecting adolescents, such as, abstinence, anti-drugs,
contraceptives, HIV/AIDS, hygiene, nutrition and exercise, STI¹s, etc.
Once trained, they will present these structured workshops in schools
and youth serving agencies within Ingham County. To qualify for this
job one must meet all the requirements listed below:
College Student
Reliable Transportation
Good Driving Record (no more than 4 points)
Public Speaking Skills
Positive Role Model
Commit Through May 2008
Working as a Peer Educator is a great way to obtain knowledge on health
related topics, enhance public speaking skills, and increase
professionalism. Peer Educators of years past have found this job to be
a very rewarding experience for themselves and the adolescents they
served, as well as being a great resume builder.
Information sessions are available at which time one will receive an
application packet, overview of the position, and answers to any
questions they may have. Applications are due one week from the
information session attended. The available dates are:
Monday, September 24 10-11 am 4-5 pm
Tuesday, September 25 10-11 am 4-5 pm
Wednesday, September 26 10-11 am 4-5 pm
Thursday, September 27 10-11 am 4-5 pm
Friday, September 28 10-11 am 4-5 pm
