MSU's Jewish Studies Program at Hebrew University's Rothberg International School offers students 8 semester credits while studying at Israel's premier university in Jerusalem, Israel. The program is taught in small classes by two MSU faculty and three Hebrew U. /Rothberg School faculty. It is designed for students with interest in the history of Israel and the Middle East, the variety of modern Jewish experience in two modern centers, America and Israel, and the Israeli-Arab-Palestinian conflict. It also offers an opportunity to study introductory microeconomics with applications to Israel.
Classes Available
Five courses will be offered. Three will be taught by Hebrew U. /Rothberg School faculty and will provide transfer credit applicable to MSU courses. Professors Joyce Ladenson and Paul Menchik will teach two other courses for MSU credit. Students must enroll in at least two courses of the following courses:
- Jerusalem Through the Ages: Historical and Geographic Perspectives (transfers as IAH 211D)
- Strategic and Political Aspects of the Middle East Conflict (transfers as MC 324A)
- The Shaping of Israeli Identity: From Zionist Idea to Current Reality (transfers as ISS 330B)
- Modern Jewish Experience: Europe, America, and Israel (transfers as MC 390 or AL 400)
- Introduction to Microeconomics: Applications to Israel
