Christine Roeder is a Business Development Manager for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). Since 2001, she manages business development activity in Oakland County for the MEDC, including business expansion and retention efforts, workforce development activities, development of tax incentive packages for expanding businesses, and community development initiatives. Prior to joining the MEDC, Christine served as the Economic Development Specialist for the City of Farmington Hills, Michigan. In this position, she assisted the City Manager's Office with economic development projects, focusing on business retention and attraction efforts. From 1994-1998, Christine held the position of Economic Development/Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Director for the City of Eastpointe , Michigan . She was responsible for all activities related to the DDA – including the successful implementation of a special assessment district, and infrastructure maintenance and marketing activities. She also served as the project manager for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, assisted with a corridor market study, and headed citywide business recruitment, retention, and public relations. Christine has served on the boards of the James Madison College Alumni Association, Eastpointe Chamber of Commerce, Eastpointe Rotary Club, Housing Opportunities for Macomb , and the Eight Mile Boulevard Association. She is currently a member of the Woodward Avenue Action Association, and the Michigan State University Alumni Association. Christine is a 1994 graduate of James Madison College at Michigan State University , with a BA in American Public Affairs. She earned her Master of Urban Planning degree from Wayne State University in 2004. Christine, her husband Ben, and their six-month old daughter, Julia, reside in Ferndale .
