In May of 2000, John Lindley graduated from James Madison College at Michigan State University with a degree in Political Economy and a specialization through the Department of Agriculture in Environmental Economics. Prior to graduation, John took a position as Legislative Assistant to State Representative Dale Sheltrown (D-West Branch), where he directed all legislative efforts of a House office, including committee work, budget analysis, and session briefings. John also coordinated the Representative's priority initiatives of natural resource/agricultural industry protections, bovine/deer tuberculosis eradication, and ballot regulation reform. After a year of working directly for the legislature, John became Michigan 's youngest registered lobbyist when he moved to metropolitan Detroit and began working for the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA). In addition to his responsibility of coordinating the legislative efforts of 17,000-plus member, regulated professional association and managing a multifaceted Political Action Committee (PAC), John has supervised the administration of association task force and committee structure, including volunteer recruitment, meeting and special event planning. John is now respected by Lansing insiders as an expert in state licensing and taxation issues. Under his direction, the MACPA's government relations program has gained significant recognition, including the 2006 Diamond Award for Best Government Relations Program by the Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE). John is a graduate of the US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Organizational Management at the University of Wisconsin, a four-year educational program designed for association executives, as well as the MSAE Academy of Association Management. He is a member of the MSAE Legislative Conference Planning Committee and Legislative Committee.
