Curtis Hertel – Michigan Department of Community Health

Curtis Hertel Jr. graduated from Michigan State University’s James Madison College in May of 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in social relations.

Before becoming a member of the DCH staff Curtis worked for the House Democratic Caucus serving in various roles including Director of Constituent Relations. Curtis Hertel Jr. started with the department in 2003 as a policy and legislative analyst. As an analyst he worked to pass the Governor’s childhood lead package and Criminal Background check package. In 2006 Curtis was promoted to the role of Legislative Liaison for the department.

Hertel Jr. has also served as a member of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners since 2001.
