Ambassador of Mentoring- BBBSMB is currently recruiting for the 2009-2010 program year, which begins on August 3, 2009 and runs through July 31, 2010. Ambassadors complete one year of service with our organization, helping to build our capacity in the following program areas: Mentor Recruitment/Marketing, Mentoring Program Development and Support; Mentor/Mentee Training and Match Support. BBBSMB's Ambassador of Mentoring will serve as the primary catalyst to increase the number of match relationships involving Hispanic and African-American children - particularly boys - living in Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, and the South End. The Ambassador will cultivate productive relationships with key community contacts with a focus on attracting an increasing number of men of color to become Bigs to boys living in the above neighborhoods, develop and implement practices to enhance our effectiveness in outreach to these populations, and create agency strategies and training procedures that support children and mentors of color throughout our service area. The Ambassador will also organize and coordinate a new Committee on Hispanic/Latino Mentoring, which will address issues of Hispanic/Latino volunteer recruitment and explore best practices in match support. Through these initiatives, the Ambassador will increase BBBSMB's capacity in the programmatic areas of Recruitment and Marketing, Mentor/Mentee Training, and Match Support.
