Fund- (MALDEF) We have filled all of our summer internship positions, and are
currently accepting applications for fall internships only. MALDEF offers valuable internship opportunities for
dedicated individuals who want to get involved in MALDEF's litigation, public
policy, and community advocacy work. Law students are encouraged to apply for
the competitive Law Clerk Summer Internship program. There are also internship
opportunities available with the Parent School Partnership (PSP) program.

Intern, Center for a New American Security- The Center for a New American
Security seeks to hire two external relations interns whose primary function
will be to support the Director and Deputy Director of External Relations and
the external relations assistant in the implementation of communications plans,
including media and constituent relations and outreach, event planning, and
website management. These individuals must be highly motivated,
technically savvy, and detail oriented.

Internship Program- The Center for Science and Public Interest- All summer 2009
internships have been filled. Generally,
an internship is for ten weeks. Undergraduate interns are paid an hourly wage
of $8.25/hour ($9.25/hour for graduate students). The specific dates of an
internship are flexible and depend on our needs and the applicant's schedule.
Application materials should include the following:
1. A cover letter indicating issues of interest, future plans,
and dates of availability.
2. A
résumé. Experience with advocacy groups is advantageous.
3.
Writing sample, if required by the specific project (a popularly written piece
is preferred over a technical report).
4. Two
letters of recommendation from instructors or employers that address your
academic/work ability and character.
5. An

National Security Internship Center for a New American Security- CNAS
offers full-time and part-time paid internships. Competition for the six to
eight spots available is very tough. Interns work closely with CNAS staff and
are given considerable responsibility. Please refer to the projects on our

interest you in your cover letter. We will do our best to pair our selected
interns with projects of their interest. Compensation, CNAS
interns are paid a monthly stipend. In some cases by pre-arrangement, interns

The Director will
direct the Public Works Department through delegation of technical and
day-to-day activities to Assistant Directors, Deputy Directors and section
heads. In addition to the oversight of 1,100 FTE staff members and an
operating budget of $226 million and capital improvement budget of $198 million,
the Director will be expected to interact with elected officials, stakeholders
and residents. The incumbent oversees the procurement, management, and
maintenance of the City's fleet of equipment, and the construction,
maintenance, and operation of City-owned facilities and related electrical and
mechanical systems. The employee administers departmental service contracts
including solid waste collection and Citywide
custodial service contracts. The Public Works Director manages all
residential solid waste collection and disposal activities including recycling
and household hazardous waste programs, and landfill and transfer station
operations. This position exercises considerable initiative and independent
judgment and works under the general supervision of a Deputy City Manager. The
incumbent in this position is expected to resolve problems of a professional
and technical nature and must effectively confront problems facing public works
management while managing competing priorities. Education: A bachelor's degree in public
administration, business administration, engineering, environmental sciences or
a related field. Experience: Proven management level experience in
the direction of a large public agency or function. Excellent communication
