Police Property Technician- The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform manual and clerical work in the receipt, storage and release of found, stolen and confiscated property and evidence impounded by the Police Department or other law enforcement agencies. Duties are performed under the general supervision of a Police Property Supervisor. Processes invoices and logs in property received from law enforcement personnel; Safeguards and maintains proper integrity and chain of evidence; Loads and transports property impounded from outlying stations or precincts; Prepares impounded property for distribution and/or auction as authorized; Tags, marks, packages, and stores property and evidence received; Destroys impounded property as required by law or regulation; Responds to inquiries from law enforcement personnel and citizens concerning property in custody; Maintains appropriate release records and records of disposition of property and evidence; Makes accurate comparisons of items from serial numbers or other descriptive features; Maintains and secures biological evidence contained in refrigerators and freezers requiring strict temperature control; Verifies stolen weapons through the use of national and state crime information computer systems; Transports evidence to and from the State Department of Public Safety for analysis; Receives vehicles impounded as evidence only and various gasoline powered equipment; Enters information pertaining to property and evidence status into a computer terminal; Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service. Experience: Three years of experience in warehousing and inventory control. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. General Police procedures for impounding and safekeeping property. Applicable federal, State and local criminal and civil laws, codes and regulations. Basic principles, practices and methods of warehousing. Hazards and safety precautions applicable to warehousing. Requirements: Must be certified as a Level B Terminal Operator by the Department of Public Safety - Arizona Criminal Justice Information Systems (ACJIS) Division by the end of the one year probationary period. Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage. Michigan Foreclosure Corps Program Director- The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness and the Michigan Foreclosure Task Force are seeking a Program Director for the Michigan Foreclosure Corps.  The Program Director will provide support for up to 20 AmeriCorps members serving at certified non-profit housing counseling agencies throughout Michigan.  The responsibilities of the Program Director consist of overall management and administration of a statewide Michigan Foreclosure Corps program designed to increase the capacity of non-profit housing counseling agencies and provide foreclosure prevention and intervention activities to distressed homeowners in Michigan. Education: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in human services, education, public administration, community development or a related field.  Experience: Must have demonstrated program management and staff supervisory experience and dynamic leadership abilities.  Experience in a similar public service program, other corps-based program or similar community program is preferred. YouVote Coordinator, Fall 2009 Internship, Office of Government Affairs- The MSU Office of Governmental Affairs is seeking an intern for fall 2009 to serve as the Coordinator of the YouVote program.  The YouVote program was designed to help inform the students of MSU about voting in Michigan.   The project is a joint collaboration of MSU, the City of East Lansing, and various student organizations.  The goals of the program are to increase voter registration, expand voter education, and encourage more voter participation.  It is also important to note that YouVote is completely non-partisan. Duties Include: Maintain the YouVote website (www.youvote.msu.edu) to provide information about voting registration, absentee ballots, where to vote, and up-to-date information about upcoming elections and other information for voters that year. Responsible for ensuring that the information on the site is current, and that all available information is available to the students of MSU through the site. Publicize the site and all other resources that can assist students in exercising their right to vote. Chair a committee of students, faculty, staff, and community officials to guide the direction of the program and to generate ideas. Assists the City of East Lansing to ensure that polling sites are staffed with individuals who can assist students in voting, and the local sites are well advertised to the student population. Strive to meet the goals of the program and those set by the committee. Other duties in the Office of Governmental Affairs as needed. Experience: The YouVote Coordinator needs to be a junior or senior looking for an experience in a university-community campaign.  Previous work, education or combination is expected.
