Meet with Your Advisor

JMC's Academic Advising Team is your first stop for questions related to the academic program, course selection and scheduling, choice of major, internship and career opportunities, difficulties in your life that may pose obstacles to academic success, and college and university resources. Below you'll find information on how to connect with your advisor.

Not sure who your advisor is? Visit JMC's "View Advisor" tool (MSU login required).

Schedule Appointment
How do I schedule a meeting with my advisor?

Students can schedule meetings with their academic advisor via the MSU Student Information System (SIS). After you login to SIS:

  • Navigate to the “Academic Progress” tile on your homepage.
  • Select “Advising/Tutoring Appointments” from the left navigation.
  • Complete the required fields and review appointment information
  • Select “Book It!” to book your appointment – you and your advisor will receive a calendar invite for your MSU Outlook email calendar

If you have a previously scheduled meeting that you no longer want or need, please reach out to cancel or reschedule so that we can offer that appointment to other students.

Why should I schedule an advising appointment?

All Madison students should schedule a meeting with their academic advisor at least once per semester. These appointments can cover:

  • designing a graduation plan or anything related to future semesters
  • major/minor exploration
  • preparation or signing of ROTC forms
  • conversations about long-term goals, career interests, graduate/law school
  • follow-up from an express appointment
  • developing a relationship with your advisor – this takes time and effort from both student and advisor!
How do I join Zoom meetings with my advisor?

To join a meeting scheduled to take place via zoom, use the link and password posted by the advisor in the JMC Zoom Directory.

How can I schedule advising for internship or career-related support?

Students can schedule a meeting with JMC's Field Experience Coordinator Lauren Michalak to discuss internships and education abroad opportunities via SIS. Lauren Michalak is also available for drop-in advising on Wednesdays from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in 329 South Case Hall.

Students can make appointments with Karissa Chabot-Purchase, Assistant Director with Career Services, via Handshake.

How do I schedule a meeting with Assistant Dean Jeff Judge?

For meetings with Assistant Dean Jeff Judge, contact Kristie Hess at 517-353-6754 or email hessk1@msu.edu.
